Scribal Arts in the Outlands

A revision is in process, and should be ready sometime this summer. Printed copies will be available, although we do not yet know what the cost will be. It should be between $5 and $10, depending on our printing costs. In order to make this revision as accurate and complete as it can be, please send any comments on the previous edition to Tatiana@rialto.org

If you would like to download a copy of the Scribe's Handbook, several versions are available here.

The following are all Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files. You will need Acrobat Reader (a free program) to read them. The text of Acrobat files may not be edited or changed, however, you can use the text select tool in Acrobat Reader to cut text from the handbook, and paste it into the application of your choice for editing. This is useful for filling in the blanks in the scroll texts with the specific information for your scroll (names of Crown, recipient, date) so that you can print out a guide for your calligraphy and a text for the herald to read during court.

This file contains the entire 120 page handbook, including all graphics. It is approximately 2.6 megabytes in size. The graphics have been reduced in resolution to make the file smaller.

Download the Outlands Scribe's Handbook (Complete version)
This file contains the entire 120 page handbook in its original format. It is approximately 7.5 megabytes in size. This is the best version for printing.

Download the Kingdom scroll texts and badges
This file contains just the section on specific kingdom award texts. The graphics have been somewhat reduced in order to decrease the file size, but should still look okay when printed. It is about 3.6 MB.

Download the Baronial scroll texts and badges
This file contains only the section on baronial awards. The graphics have been somewhat reduced in order to decrease the file size, but should still look okay when printed. It is about 1.3 MB.

Download the Handbook cover art
The cover art is not included in any of the files. It is a 42k jpeg file.

Download the Kingdom badges in color
The color picture of all of the kingdom award badges. It is a 108k jpeg file.
